What traffic cases cover
Traffic cases range from simple speeding tickets to serious offenses like reckless driving, driving while suspended, and leaving the scene. CDL holders face separate and stricter rules for almost every charge.
Most people do not realize that pleading guilty to a ticket is a conviction on their record with insurance consequences that last years.
What's at stake
A ticket looks minor until the insurance bill arrives.
- Insurance premium increases (often 20% to 50% for moving violations)
- Points on your license
- License suspension for accumulated points
- CDL disqualification for 60 days to lifetime
- Jail time for reckless or serious offenses
- Collateral effects on employment (delivery, rideshare, trucking)
How we handle tickets
1. Review the charge
The difference between a 6-point offense and a 2-point offense can be a phone call with the prosecutor.
2. Request amendments
Many cases can be amended to non-moving violations or reduced offenses. Availability depends on the court, the charge, and your record.
3. Court appearance
Most traffic cases we handle do not require you to appear.
CDL cases are different
If you hold a commercial driver's license, do not plead guilty to anything without talking to us first. CDL holders cannot take the same deferred adjudication options available to other drivers. An amendment that works for a regular license can disqualify a CDL for months or more.
